Alright guys... please don t take this application as an example for self-made charas. First of all it is very long. Second, it contains several "specials", for example the bankai forms. Usually a sword does not have so many forms. Third, Byakuya is special amonst the Shinigami for he has this very specific family backround. Please keep that in mind when creating a self made chara.

Family: Most important of all is surely his grandfather, who taught him everything he needed to know to become the Clan’s leader. He also was married for some years and later on adopted Rukia into the family. When he found out that his mother had a child with another man, he decided against punishing the young man for a fault his mother had made and instead also integrated him in the family. Therefore he broke the law three times for personal reasons and not a few in the Clan are not exactly amused about that, but for he has shown his abilities in dealing with important matters and also his qualities of leadership no one dares to stand up against him so far.
Character description:
If you want to make it easy for yourself, you could call him arrogant, cold and terribly serious. However this is just the one side of his character, although it is usually that one he shows to other people.
He acts on the basis of his nobility, is extremely calm even in battle and nearly never seen surprised by anything. He often thinks that the situations he is dragged into are not worth his attention and so might be seen rather bored, although he would never simply insult an opponent. Even when offending him or her he does it in an elaborate way that shows his profound education and his sophisticated character ( just remember his quote of the monkey and the moon…).
He is an extremely perceptive man and highly aware of his abilities and also their limits. Therefore when he tells an opponent his opinion, it usually is justified and Byakuya has every right to say what he is saying.
He strongly believes in law and understands that there have to be rules to create a peaceful society. Actually this is all he wants to achieve – peace – but he knows that some have to show the strength that is needed to imposing the ideas of regulation on the people. He has understood that neither humans nor shinigami are born with a definite sense of good and bad and have to be educated to discover this moral understanding. He also knows that not everybody wants to work on his or her own character to become a better person. Human and shinigami ware not “good” in general. They need help and guidance to discover and develop their true potential. To educate people, there have laws been created. They need to be followed to secure a stable and peaceful society. He knows that.
And he also knows that a lot of people do not and therefore hate him – a guardian of the law – even more than others.
Despite his cold and aristocratic behaviour he nevertheless cares for those close to him and acts whenever necessary to protect them. That doesn’t mean he puts them under tutelage, but he will always risk his life in order to protect those close to him.
Likes / Preferences: Byakuya is said to be one of the best Calligraphers in whole Soul Society. He also enjoys night walks and the Classical Writings and poems. Due to his sword he is very fond of Cherry Blossoms and every now and then goes on thinking about the deep meaning of this ancient symbol in their society.
Dislikes / Aversions: He surely doesn’t like people breaking the law. In general, disregarding the rules of society, but also simply lacking manners make him feel bitter. He also doesn’t like candy and people offending his family.
Strengths: Kuchiki is a highly educated and sophisticated man. He possesses impressive abilities in leading his clan and is said to be the most famous leader since years. In combat he shows an elaborate way of fighting and nearly none of all disciplines causes any problems. He’s a skilled fighter and a very good leader. His sense of justice is very strong and he constantly works on himself to become a better man. He also can acknowledge a defeat when it is obvious and knows very clearly about the limits of his own abilities. He is not too proud to admit when a battle is lost and also that he makes mistakes. He has quite some will power and character strength for he broke the law himself three times, offended his parents and the family itself.
He is extremely perceptive, a good observer and has no illusions about his own personality.
Weaknesses: Byakuya is a perfectionist. He does not even ask perfection of all others but moreover of himself as well. That nearly tears him apart when he is caught between two promises given, one to his wife, the other one to his parents.
He is unforgiving, often acts in a cold and arrogant way, but never overestimates his own abilities.
Clothing/Armor: Byakuya wears the traditional black Gi and Hakama of the Captains, as well as a sleeveless white coat. In addition to that he wears white fingerless gloves, a scarf made of silver white silk and a white headpiece that symbolizes his status as Head of the Family. The scarf is a family heirloom and has been woven by the Master Weaver Tsujishirō Kuroemon III.
Abilities: Enough that you shouldn’t mess with him. Byakuya is still “young”, but said to have graduated as the best of his class. With his parents deceased, he very quickly had to grow up and develop a lot of different skills in a short time.
Although he had broken the law three times to protect his family, no one questions his position as the Clan’s leader. The other families also highly respect him and the Kuchiki Clan and it is not just a saying that he had led the family to a “Second Blossom Period”. Although he often seems to be cold and distanced, his judgements are usually right and therefore he handles affairs of the Clan in a quick and determined way without violating the rules of Society or Rites.
Byakuya is masterful at Swordsmanship. His style is elegant and of flawless precision. He is not the typical Kungfu-fighter, jumping here and there and performing breath taking stunts. He is more the noble, aristocratic type of warrior, killing his opponent with first strike. Everything he does, has an air of perfection and shows the impressive beauty and magic of the symbol that had chosen him: The Cherry Blossom.
His two major disciplines are shunpo (Flash steps) and Kido (magic spells). He is widely known for his nearly perfect usage of Flash steps in combination with an attack aiming for the Soul Chain. He even knows how to move with great speed and at the same time leaving an afterimage behind to confuse the enemy, but doesn’t like the technique too much.
He has been seen performing magic spells on a very high level (even without using the release phrase) and is also capable of weaving them in a quick succession. For spells are fed by spiritual power that means his is certainly very high. He can use the lower spells in a terribly destructive, even killing way and performs the high ones with the accuracy and precision that is typical for him.
For he is a highly perceptive man, Byakuya is also a very good tactician and gets easily used to new, even unforeseen situations in battle. He is good at hand-to-hand combat, although he surely doesn’t like it too much and he has shown that he’s able to endure in even very long and demanding fights. Even when he took several critical hits by Ichigo, he stood his head up high and performed several high level spells as well as releasing his final bankai form and performing Flash steps to rescue Rukia after the battle had ended. Although he has not the impressive body shape as Yamamoto or Kenpachi possess it, he has the willpower to fight as long as it needs to defeat the opponent and even is not afraid of hurting himself when it suits the greater purpose (remember the Espada fight when he willingly cut the muscles of left leg and hand to avoid losing control over them to the Espada… by the way… Dr. House… how is it possible to still stand with having cut the nerves from the muscles…? I remember you being able to do that, too, although even lacking the muscle in the upper leg?)
Character’s Past: Byakuya is the 28th Head of the Kuchiki Clan and took over this responsibility from his grand-father. He therefore had a very strict, yet profound education. When he was a child he used to be teased and was known for his hot and uncontrolled temper. After his grand-father had made him understand what would be asked of him in the future, he changed his attitude and endured in hard and endless training to fulfil the duties waiting for him. He graduated as the best student from the academy in his class and took over the leadership of his family. For the Kuchiki Clan even among the Four Noble Houses is the highest regarded one, Byakuya always tried to achieve being an example for society and the other Nobles. His integrity, seriousness, calamity and understanding of the Rites and the Ancient Classics have gained him the reputation of being the most famous leader of his clan since centuries. However he went a step too far when taking Hisana for his wife, a commoner of Soul Society. A few saw a development in character in this act, showing that there was a heart inside the man’s chest and the ability to step out of the corset of rules. The most of the Nobles however felt offended and never accepted neither his decision nor his wife.
When Hisana died, she told him about her abandoned sister and made him promise to protect her with everything he has to do so. Unable to see her soul being burdened with the guilt of having failed her duties as a sister, he gave her that promise and immediately started searching for Rukia. One year later he found her and instructed her teachers to tell her that she would be accepted into the Clan due to her resemblance of his deceased wife. He did so to protect Hisanas pride and integrity for leaving a small child without protection behind is not exactly what a sister should do, even if life was hard.
While fulfilling his promise he broke the law a second time. So, one the one hand Rukia very much impersonated what he once had loved, but on the other made him remember that he had despised his dead parents a second time. Although he was never rude to Rukia, insulted or offended her, his behaviour was always cold and distanced towards her. Nevertheless he oversaw the flaws and mistakes she had and made while taking her first steps into the Higher Society.
After having adopted her, he went to the grave of his parents and swore to them to never break the rules again. To fully understand that you have to remember that even dead people in this society are considered to be still present and aware of the things going on. Ancestor worship is one of the most important tasks to be completed by every family member. Giving a promise to the grave is as good as giving it to living persons.
When Rukia was judged guilty for having passed her powers on to Ichigo, he didn’t use his influence to protect her. What happened to her was right according to the laws he had sworn to protect and obey. However he also had given his wife the promise to protect her sister no matter what. Although never seen like that or talking to somebody, Byakuya was deeply concerned with this conflict inside his mind.
When Ichigo encountered him in battle and finally asked him why it wasn’t him but Ichigo himself to protect Rukia, Byakuya explained to him the need of laws and the need of those to follow them. He nevertheless also told Ichigo that he, Ichigo, has won this fight (and therefore admits having made a mistake in Rukias case) and left the execution grounds, just to reappear to save his sister being slaughtered by Captain Gin. In addition to the wounds he had taken in the fight with Ichigo, he went into critical state and just before passing out telling Rukia the truth about her sister, apologizing to her and asking her forgiveness, which he is granted.

During Rukia’s last years of learning and her absence after that, it is discovered that Byakuya’s mother had a child with another man. Deeply hurt by the betrayal of his mother, Byakuya first refuses to deal with that matter of shame and then remembers himself being in love with Hisana and breaking all the rules to be with her. He then accepts the young man in the family as well, forgiving his mother and not blaming Henarion for something he is not responsible for or could have changed at all.

Weapon's special abilities: Shikai: Releasing spell: “Scatter, Senbonzakura”. (Honestly, I really want to know how this Japanese guy manages it to put a whole personality into TWO words… o_O )
The blade then scatters into an uncountable amount of small blade pieces that cannot be seen by the eyes alone. Yet these blade fragments reflect the light and therefore look like thousands of Cherry Blossoms. Once the Shikai is released it is nearly unstoppable. Senbonzakura attacks “multi-dimensional” and its movements are controlled by Byakuyas mind.
Bankai: “Bankai. Scatter Senbonzakura kageyoshi.” Byakuya lets the sword go and it dives into the ground as if diving into water. The area he fights in then becomes dark and two rows of giant swords appear left and right at him then. Again their blades scatter into more uncountable fragments, being able to be used as offensive and defensive weapon. When being directed by Byakuyas hands, their movements become as twice as quick than before.
His bankai has three more forms.
Senkei: This is considered the True Form of senbonzakura. It abandons defence and concentrates on offence. Each of the glowing swords is controlled by Byakuyas mind and acts due to his commands. So he can “call” them into his hands if needed.
Gokei: Basically a whirl storm of tiny little swords that encircles the opponent, leaving no blind spot behind to then kill him.
Shukei: Senbonzakuras power is forced into one single blade that then is made of pure white light to give the final hit. Byakuya also gets two light white wings, symbolizing his spiritual power.
